Now this is exciting …
Peter Black’s Freedom to Differ:
TV Tonight reports the exciting news that Working Dog is returning to the ABC:
Great news today with the announcement that Working Dog is to make a brand new series, The Hollowmen, on the ABC.
Set
in the world of politics, the 6 x 30 min series will look at the Prime
Ministerial “think tank.” These are the policy makers working (and
leaking?) for the country’s top job. The unit’s task is to stop
worrying about tomorrow’s headlines, and to start worrying about next
week’s. To be filmed in Melbourne and Canberra the series will be
slated as part of the network’s Wednesday comedy night.
Working Dog has a highly successful track record including the legendary Frontline (pictured) and TEN productions The Panel and Thank God You’re Here.
The announcement today by the ABC effectively ends any hope of a return
for the improvisation comedy on TEN. Working Dog customarily likes to
end on a high note.
In
returning to the ABC, Working Dog’s Executive Producer Michael Hirsh
said, “We have been constantly talking to ABC TV over the years. The
ABC has been very welcoming to our ideas and it’s exciting to be
working together on The Hollowmen.”
It is Working Dog’s first venture with ABC since Frontline ended in 1997.
