Conference reflections - IP Business Congress 2008 (Amsterdam)

Duncan Bucknell’s site updates: The first annual IP Business Congress was a great success.  Lots of interesting things for everyone to go away and think about, and I’ll be posting about some of these in coming weeks.
A few key points:
(1) - not every company should have a CIPO (phew, that makes sense);
(2) - call them what you want, just make sure the company is adequately thinking about IP;
(3) - the CIPO (or equivalent) role is a business role, not a legal one;
(4) - the IP community needs to get a whole lot better at educating the general community about the business end of IP.
